Golfing for Gardens

Everyone is invited to participate in the first annual golf outing to benefit the residents of Neshaminy Manor.

The event is scheduled for Tuesday September 27th, 2011, at the Northampton Valley Country Club, 299 Newtown-Richboro Road in Richboro, PA. Registration begins at 11 am, shotgun start / scramble at 1 pm, and an informal dinner buffet at 5:30 pm. Golf and dinner is just $150 (all fees included plus a light lunch), or dinner only for $50. The dinner buffet includes beer and soda, and a cash bar is also available. Sponsors are welcome (please see the brochure).

As you know, the Gardens at the Manor, a project of the Foundation at the Manor (a 501(c)3 non-profit organization) is aimed at increasing the quality of life through the beauty of nature and the benefits and freedom of being outdoors. Through horticulture, the “cared for” become the “caregivers” and the nurtured become, once again, the nurturers in a safe, healthy environment designed and built around their special needs. With your help, we will continue to build a beautiful garden area that will enable our residents to take advantage of the safety and serenity of the outdoor enhancements provided by our “Gardens at the Manor”.

Phase One Has Finally Started!

The bid was awarded in January 2011, and from then until May it was either sleet, snow, rain, or other inclement weather. But S&H Construction has been diligently working when the sun shines to meet the completion date of June 17th, 2011.
	The footings were poured the week of May 23rd, and the patterned concrete patio was expected to be poured the following week.

Brunch provides Art programs for residents

	Over one hundred people joined us again this year at the Manor to show their support for the Arts program. By purchasing art, enjoying the brunch, and having fun with the silent auction, the ninth annual Arts Brunch brought in enough funds to cover the art program for another year. The residents truly enjoy the opportunity to participate in creative art classes each week.
One great new feature this year was the ability to accept credit cards! Armed with the new Square gadget and an iPad, we were able to help our supporters say “Charge It” and put all their purchases, including tickets and donations, on their credit cards. Visa, MC, and Discover were all used successfully. Because Square’s program keeps expenses to a bare minimum with no monthly fees and low transaction fees, we’ll definitely be using this again next year!
	Thanks to the wonderful community participation, the Foundation at the Manor will continue to provide rewarding arts-related programs to the residents of Neshaminy Manor for another year.

Slow Food Bucks County

Slow Food Bucks County and Dish Catering of Frenchtown, NJ, are hosting a benefit for the Neshaminy Manor long term care facility therapy vegetable garden being built this summer. The dinner will be held at the Tinicum Barn in Erwinna on River Road June 25 at 8 PM.

Local food producers like Brenda Slack’s Milk House Farms, Blue Moon Acres, Duck Life Tea and Bobolink Creamery will provide wonderful additions to the meal. Plus there will be local beer and wine reception, but bring a bottle for dinner.

Another Fabulous Mardi Gras Party

It was another fun and fabulous Mardi Gras event this year for the benefit of Gardens at the Manor. Held at the VE German Club, Davisville Road, Warminster, PA on Sunday 3/28/10, everyone had a great time and enjoyed the fabulous New Orleans cuisine served up by the VE club staff. With wine and beer included, as well as a cash bar, there was plenty of lubrication to go around.

Thanks again to the band Zydeco-A-Go-Go for providing the music and fabulous entertainment, once again including the washboard contest.

Despite the fragile economy, the generosity of those in attendance as well as those who sent in their donations made this another very successful fundraiser. Thank you all so much - your thoughtfulness helps bring the Gardens project that much closer to reality.
